Yiannakis L. Omirou

Yiannakis L. Omirou was the President of the House of Representatives (Cyprus Parliament) for the Tenth Term of Office of the House from 2011 to 2016. He was also the President of Movement of Social Democrats EDEK from 2001 to 2015. He studied law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. During his studies in Greece he was actively involved in the student union movement and the anti-junta struggle. He took part in the sit-in at the Law School and in the Polytechnic School uprising. He and his brother Andreas L. Omirou resisted the coup of 15 July 1974 as editors and broadcasters at the Pafos Free Radio Station. As a result, he was arrested and imprisoned by the coupists. In 1998 he was appointed Minister of Defense of the Republic of Cyprus but resigned on 4 February 1999, following his disagreement with the government decision to cancel the stationing of the S 300 Russian missile system in Cyprus. He was a member of the House of Representatives from 1981 to 2016.

Lazaros A. Omirou

Lazaros A. Omirou graduated in law from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2006. He is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association. He has been a Member of the Municipal Council of Paphos and President of Foreign Relations Committee of the Municipality. He is a Member of the Cyprus – Jordan Business Association. He speaks Greek and English.

Marina A. Omirou

Marina A. Omirou obtained her Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Derby in 2007. She then continued her postgraduate studies at the University College of London (UCL) in 2008 where she obtained an LLM in Business and Intellectual Property Law. She was admitted to the Cyprus Bar Association in 2009. She has been the Parliamentary Assistant of the President of Cyprus Parliament. She speaks Greek and English.
